If ever there were a soap that could capture the feeling of late afternoon sunlight spilling through the orchard—warm, golden and full of dreams—it would be Golden Hour. Oh, how I adore that name! It sounds like a secret whispered by the sun itself, doesn’t it? This lovely bar feels as if it were made from the very last rays of day, just before twilight wraps the world in lilac and hush. It’s a tender creation of canola, castor, coconut, olive, sunflower oils, with palm fruit shortening and shea butter to make the lather rich and soft as clouds. A splash of coconut milk adds a silken creaminess that feels almost too beautiful for ordinary bathing. The hues come from French pink clay and Brazilian yellow clay—like dawn and dusk meeting in one bar—and the scent is a charming duet of rose and lemon essential oils, fresh and sweet and utterly hopeful. And then—oh, the loveliest touch!—there are petals of strawberry blond calendula grown right here at SaThree Rivers Farm, shining like bits of captured sunlight. To use Golden Hour is to stand for a moment in that perfect, glowing stillness when the day sighs into evening. It’s a reminder, I think, that even the simplest moments can shimmer with beauty if only one looks closely enough to see it. ~inspired by Anne Shirley
